Huaishi Yan is an Associate Chief Physician of Acupuncture and Moxibustion at the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China (Anhui Provincial Hospital). He has been engaged in clinical practice, teaching, and research in acupuncture for over three decades. He has served as a specially appointed consultation expert for the Health Care Committee of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee. He has led and participated in three Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Achievement projects and has received the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Award. As first author, he has published 27 papers in professional medical journals. His long-term research focuses on the standardization of acupuncture practice and the mechanisms of therapeutic efficacy, with particular emphasis on acupuncture-dominant conditions, including pain-related disorders (neck, shoulder, low back, and limb pain; osteoarthritic conditions), neurological disorders (post-stroke dysfunction and peripheral neuropathy), kidney stones, and urinary incontinence. He integrates traditional acupuncture theory with modern medical uation systems, exploring evidence-based pathways for acupuncture in chronic disease management, functional rehabilitation, and health promotion. He has served as chief editor and author of several academic and popular science publications, including Health Preservation Lectures on “Harmony in Medical Techniques” and Healing at Your Fingertips—Acupuncture, both of which have received multiple provincial-level awards. He currently serves as Executive Chair of the International Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Preservation Conference Council, is a Science Popularization Expert of the China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and has been recognized as an Overseas Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
